下面以 UWinBatch 在某間歇性生產活性劑的精細化工裝置上的應用來說明基于 ISA S88 標準的 DCS 批量控制是如何實現配方的批量控制的。此裝置以 10 多種氧化物和催化劑為主要原料，生產 8 大類近 40 個牌號的產品，配方數量約為 40 種。
5.1 工藝流程簡介
生產流程簡要概括：當需要生產某種牌號的產品時，將相應的引發醇從裝置中間罐區輸送到反應釜中，邊攪拌邊加入一定量的催化劑，生成引發醇的鉀鹽。向反應釜充入惰性氮氣，加壓加熱反應釜。保持反應釜內的反應溫度，在一定時間內向反應釜中連續加入氧化物的混合物（取決于所需要的產品）。在加入氧化物同時，保持一定的反應壓力。反應結束后，釋放反應釜內壓力，同時冷卻反應釜。中和后的反應產物，經換熱器冷卻換熱后，用泵抽出。產品經分析合格后，通過不同渠道輸送出廠，從而完成一個批次產品的生產。圖 4 為工藝流程圖簡介：
反應釜作為工藝流程中最重要的工藝生產單元，實現批量配方的關鍵控制都集中在反應釜中，需以較高的自動化程度來實現預先設定好的反應步驟，要對溫度、壓力等重要參數進行嚴格的調控。
5.2 批量控制實施步驟
在項目實施階段，按照 S88 規定的物理模型進行設計、組態和集成，完成系統功能。首先在進行工藝分析的基礎上，對和反應釜相關工藝流程中的設備進行劃分和組合。本著平衡靈活性和簡單原則，定制相應的流程功能組，也就是基于子設備的思想在 Unit 中分解單元操作和階段。反應釜典型的階段劃分如表 1 所示。
